This year, I will run the Halcombe School Facebook page. We started this page around 18 months ago, and I have been the administrator since the beginning. It is quite time consuming, but parents tell us they love it. I guess that means it's worth it! We try to communicate a broad variety of information, without taking anything away from our class blogs. Hopefully this page will continue to be a success this year. First post: 22 Jan.

I created two surveys, one for students and one for parents, to be completed within the first couple of weeks of the school year. The purpose was to find out as much as I could about the students, in order to be the best teacher I can be for them. The results were extremely useful and insightful.

This week I will be meeting with all parents and students for 3WCs. Over the past week, each student has had to write a summary of how things have been going so far this term. In addition information in reading, writing and maths, students have reflected on the goals they have been working on.

As the TIC Sport, it was my job to organise our school Athletics Sports. This involved putting the timetable together, ensuring the timing was going to work, and confirming what activities the teachers wanted to do. This information was then shared with teachers and parents.
I have received this feedback, following the reports that went home at the end of last week:
One of the students in the class I am taking to camp is gluten free. Over a couple of weeks, I communicated with the students' mother, in order to make a food plan. Here is a copy of the correspondence between us:

Hi ##
I’m aware that
** is gluten free and I’m thinking ahead to how we might manage this at
camp. Here is my suggestion:
I send home a
copy of the menu and you identify what ** can and can’t eat.
You provide
the food to replace what she can’t eat eg. GF bread/pre-prepared meals/muesli
bars/whatever
We reduce your
camp fees to account for the fact that you’re providing some of the food.
What do you
think?
Thanks,
Di

Sweet as,
no problem.
Thanks,

Great. Will send home the menu with ** tomorrow.

Great, thanks

Hi ##
Thanks for
your notes for the menu. ** tells me you’re picking her up on
Wednesday. Would you be able to call in for a chat to make sure I
understand all the food stuff?
Thanks,
Di
Sept 24th
Sure. See you then.
Thanks,

Hi ##
I have written
out the plan for **'s food at camp - attached. Can you please check
through it to make sure I've got everything right?
Thanks,

Hi Di
Just had the coolest conversation with Machar this morning. He was telling me that Nydia Bay camp was the coolest thing he has ever done and that he thinks about it everyday.
Just wanted to let you know what a huge impact you make and say a huge thank you for all of the over and above extras you do for our kids. Thanks Di.
Cheers,
Mel
We held our school gala on 23 March 2019. I played an important role in the organisation of this event. I had all kinds of jobs such as, coordinating the student stalls, organising the sound system, sorting out equipment, setting up and packing up. This event contributed to the strengthening of relationships within our school community. I also put this video together to showcase the highlights from the gala:
